The government has announced that international production companies plan to shoot seven foreign films in Indonesia this year.
The productions were being made by groups based in the US, Europe and Australia, acting director general for cultural value, art, and film at the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Ukus Kuswara, said Tuesday.
“It’s great for promoting our country,” Ukus said.
Ministry films director Samsul Lusa said the locations chosen for the films were Bali, Raja Ampat in Papua, and other sites in Papua, Java and Sumatra.
Samsul, however, said he had not received notification of which stars would be involved in the films.
“[I believe] this will be bigger than Eat, Pray, Love, which featured Julia Roberts and was filmed in Bali,” he said.
