Police to summon Russian diplomat

JAKARTA: The Jakarta Police say they would summon one of the Russian embassy’s diplomatic officers allegedly involved in a car crash that resulted in injury to a worker.

“The Foreign Ministry will help police investigate the case as well as summon the diplomatic staff,” Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said Friday.

A car registered with the Russian embassy was involved in a traffic accident in Grogol at dawn on Monday, allegedly hitting four road workers and severely injuring one of them.

“The car lost control and we have yet to identify the cause, such as whether the driver was intoxicated or sleepy,” Jakarta Police traffic directorate accident unit chief Comr. Miyanto said Monday.
