Accomplices in police drive by shooting arrested, one on the loose

Police arrested on Wednesday more suspects implicated in the drive by shooting of officers in Palu, Central Sulawesi last month.

Four assailants shot dead two police officers in an attempted robbery. The police arrested two of the assailants and their alleged accomplices.

“[Police] arrested several suspected terrorists in Poso yesterday. One of the suspects arrested is on the wanted list,” National Police deputy spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said on Wednesday.

He said that one of the suspects was identified by the initials “PE”.

It was previously reported that the Central Sulawesi police had arrested three suspects - PE, ZH and MS.

“They [allegedly] are ammunition suppliers,” Boy said, adding that the suspects did not resist arrest.

However, the police were still searching for other suspects, he said.

“The search process for those involved, especially one with the initial S, is still ongoing,” he added.

He further said that S allegedly “participated in the planning of the attack against our officers,” he said.
