Adang: I will fight

Former National Police deputy chief Comr. Gen. (ret.) Adang Daradjatun said Saturday he would fight against legal measures towards his wife, Nunun Nurbaetie, a graft suspect in a high-profile bribery case.
“I was silent, but now I want to comment publicly. I defy any legal measures against my wife that are unjust. It is better for my wife to be overseas if law enforcement goes this way,” the Prosperous and Justice Party (PKS) lawmaker told a live TV show.
Nunun, wanted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for allegedly disbursing travelers checks to dozens of politicians in return for their votes for Miranda S. Goeltom in the 2004 Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor election, has reportedly entered Cambodia.
The immigration office has also tracked her visits to Thailand, although her family claims Nunun was attempting to cure her “severe forgetfulness” in Singapore.
“My wife’s passport has been revoked, while those of many high-profile corruption fugitives have not. The KPK declared my wife a suspect more than three months after the status had been made. Miranda and Arie Malangjudo have not been named suspects. This is part of the series of injustices in this case,” Adang said.
Arie allegedly helped Nunun hand over the checks to the politicians.
He accused the KPK of scapegoating his wife, who he called a “tiny fish”, while “the whale, or the mastermind, remains untouched.”
The National Police have recently announced they would dispatch a request for the arrest (red notice) of Nunun to 188 countries affiliated under the International Criminal Police Organization(Interpol).
