Counterterrorist unit arrests 16 suspects in 4 days

The police counterterrorist unit has arrested 16 suspects in five provinces over the past four days, the National Police says.

“From Thursday to Sunday we arrested 16 terrorist suspects,” National Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Boy Rafli Amar said Monday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Two of the suspects were arrested in the Central Java town of Pekalongan, two in Kutai Kertanegara, East Kalimantan, seven in Jakarta, two in Central Sulawesi, and one in Bandung.

Boy did not mention where police arrested the two other suspects.

Intelligence and terrorism observers have suggested that the recently arrested suspects were part of a group involved in a recent police shooting in Palu, Suluwesi.
