Retail company PT Matahari Putra Prima Tbk (MPPA), which operates a number of supermarkets, hypermarkets and pharmacies, is targeting 25 percent growth in sales this year.
MPPA President Director Benjamin Mailool said the company, which operates the Hypermart chain of stores, succeeded in paying off the majority of its debt.
“We are grateful for the good performance during the first quarter of this year. All divisions produced strong growth, especially Hypermart, which increased by 17 percent and contributed more than 95 percent of the total company sales,” Benjamin said as quoted by Tribunnews.com.
MPPA currently operates 51 hypermarkets, 26 supermarkets, 55 pharmacy outlets, more than 100 family entertainment centers, 19 international bookstores and a strategic alliance for the operation of 93 department stores in more than 50 cities throughout Indonesia.
MPPA plans to open 13 more Hypermart stores in 2011 and a total of 80 in the next five years.
