Chief of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis (PPATK) Center, Yunus Husein, registered his candidacy for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chairmanship on Monday, the final day of registration of candidates.

“I feel compelled to be more proactive in combating graft,” Husein said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Yunus Husein was among several figures who were considered appropriate to potentially become the new KPK leader, because of his integrity and comprehensive knowledge on financial forensics, something of vital importance to the commission.

Besides Husein, several other names were also seen registering on Monday. Those were Padang high prosecutors office chief Sutan Bagindo Fachmi, legal activist Bambang Widjojanto and KPK internal affairs director Handoyo Sudrajat.
