Danamon to open trade service points

J

AKARTA: Bank Danamon says it will open five trade service points to provide one-stop export-import services at major ports across the country in 2011, covering import duties, export duties and bill of lading endorsements.

“We are hoping that the establishment of these points will bring us at Danamon closer to our clients at the heart of export and import activities and will make it easier for our clients to do their business activities at the port,” Danamon president director Henry Ho said at the opening ceremony of Danamon’s first trade service point at its branch on Jl. Enggano near Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta on Monday.

Danamon expects to establish four more points this year at Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya, Belawan port in Medan, Soekarno-Hatta port in Makassar and Balikpapan port in Balikpapan.

In the long term, six more points are planned for Batam, Riau Islands; Cigading and Cengkareng in Banten; Cirebon, West Java; Semarang, Central Java; and Manado, North Sulawesi.

Bank Danamon treasury director Pradip Chhadva said that the points were in line with Danamon’s strategic plan to increase its growth in the corporate and commercial sectors.

This year, Danamon’s trade finance and cash management units are targeting a year-to-year growth of 50 percent. — JP
