Letter: Ba’asyir is not a jihadist

I don’t agree with your choice of word “jihadists” to refer to Abu Bakar Ba’asyir (The Jakarta Post, June 17, p. 1).

Instead of jihadist, you should have used “terrorist” or “extremist”. Jihadist is the right word to describe brave people who rightfully fight for a good cause, such as whistle-blower Agus Condro (who appears in story published on the same page) and Ibu Siami (on page 2).
