National Education Minister Muhammad Nuh on Wednesday reiterated his conclusion that no group cheating took place in the recent national examinations conducted by students of SD Gadel 2 Elementary School in Surabaya.

He added that the results of an investigation had revealed students’ answers to the exam questions differed.

“If mass cheating took place, the answers would have all been the same, but our investigations showed otherwise,” he said.

“I take a different stand to the public because [of this],” Nuh said.

However, the minister admitted that the school had instructed its students to cheat, but the move had not automatically resulted in the group cheating.

“The persons responsible for the illegal practice have also been punished,” he said.
