AKARTA: Jusuf Merukh, the chairman of Merukh Enterprises and PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara’s deputy president commissioner, died at the age of 77 at SOS Medika Hospital in Jakarta on Wednesday evening.
“We, the whole family of Merukh Enterprises and Merukh, along with our prayers, hopes and sincere hearts, accompany and walk together with Mr. DR Jusuf Merukh to his last place at the right side of God,” Merukh family spokesperson Gustaaf Y. N. Merukh said in a press statement on Thursday.
Jusuf was born in Rote, East Nusa Tenggara, on June 10, 1934. He served the country in several important positions, including as deputy agriculture affairs minister and chairman of the Indonesian Democratic Party faction at the House of Representatives.
Jusuf, who is survived by his wife and four children, will be buried at the San Diego Hill cemetery complex in Karawang, West Java, on Saturday. — JP
