Team to be formed to pursue cop shooter

National Police Chief Gen. Timur Pradopo said that the police are currently assembling a team to pursue the alleged shooters of Brig. One M Yasin, who was shot near the Mulia Puncak Jaya airport on Friday.

Yasin, a member of the airport’s port police (KP3) was said to have been shot in the face on Friday morning. His weapon was reportedly seized by five members of the Free Papua Organization National Liberation Army.

“Of course, we have questioned several witnesses. We are also forming a team for pursuit, with help from the military,” Timur said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Papua police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Wachyono said that Yasin was securing the airport when the incident occurred.

“The [number] of assailants is assumed to be five. After they shot and stole the victim’s revolver, they ran towards the Nenas Mountain near the Bandara Mulia airport,” he said.

Yasin was still in critical condition when the news was published at around 3.30 p.m.
