Richard Gere meets Yudhoyono during Indonesia visit

Hollywood star and Golden Globe award-winner Richard Gere met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sunday at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta, a minister says.
The meeting was held on Sunday, with both parties discussing humanitarian activities, Culture and Tourism Minister Jero Wacik said Sunday as quoted by kompas.com.
“Richard [Gere] said if there were any big humanitarian events, he wanted to get involved in them,” Jero said.
On Monday, Gere, who is also the chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT), plans to visit Borobudur Buddhist monument in Central Java, for a peace walk event.
During the event, Gere will circle the monument three times and hold a prayer.
On Tuesday, he is scheduled to visit Bali, from where he will return to his home country.
Gere is in Indonesia on an invitation from the Culture and Tourism Ministry in its efforts to promote tourism here.
