Da’i Bachtiar ends term as ambassador to Malaysia

Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Dai Bachtiar’s term ended Tuesday night.His post has been temporarily taken over by Deputy Ambassador Mulya Wirana.

The former national police chief acknowledged that he had faced ups and downs during his three-year tenure as ambassador to a country in which approximately 2.5 million Indonesians live as legal or illegal workers.

When asked about who had been appointed to replace him, Dai refused to answer, saying that he had only been asked to assist the President in his selection by providing him with information about possible candidates.

“I have been providing the President with information. Thus the rest is entirely up to the President,” he said Tuesday night as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
