RI advocates to work with
BNP2TKI to assist migrant
workers

The National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (BNP2TKI) and the Indonesian Advocate Association (AAI) on Thursday are set to sign a memorandum of understanding on a partnership to defend the rights of migrant workers.

“AAI sees there is a need for us to work with BNP2TKI. Migrant workers have become one of the national problems that needs attention and support from all elements, ” AAI chairman Humphrey Djemat said Thursday as quoted by kompas.com.

Humphrey added that his agency would make real contributions to the resolution of problems involving migrant workers.

He said that what AAI was doing was in line with the 2003 Law on Advocacy.

“The law states firmly that advocates should give legal aid freely to people who need it, especially to people with a low income. (aaa)
