IPB conservation talk on Monday
The Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) will present a symposium on Monday on conserving threatened plant and animal species.
About 250 participants, including scientists, officials and representatives of civil society groups were expected to hear talks from 15 local and foreign speakers, symposium steering committee chairman Mirza D. Kusrini said on Sunday in Bogor, West Java.
The symposium would take place on IPB's campus in Darmaga, Bogor and focus on conservation efforts for plants and animals facing extinction, especially in Indonesia, he said.
Mirza, also a lecturer at IPB’s forestry school, said non-environmentally friendly development activities were a particular threat.
