Nagan Raya regency administration in Aceh has reportedly failed to pay the salaries of more than 900 of its contract workers for the six months from January to June, where they should have been remunerated every three months, a city councilor says.

“Nagan Raya regency administration can not turn a blind eye. To pay the salaries of staff is the administration’s urgent obligation,” Nagan Raya council chairman Samsuardi said Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Samsuardi said the administration had been negligent and had violated workers’ rights, adding that the salary payments had been allocated in the city's budget. (rpt)
