Soekarno-Hatta International Airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II vows to use repressive measures to crack down on orderliness violators in the near future.

“We have sent a letter to the Jakarta Police asking for at least 100 officers of the mobile brigade to back up our security personnel to crack down on ticket scalpers, illegal taxis and street vendors at airport terminals,” Mulya Abdi, an airport senior official, said on Monday.

Mulya said PT Angkasa Pura II would not give up on its campaign to crack down on ticket scalpers, street vendors and unauthorized taxi drivers with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport operating as a world-class airport when its expansion plan is complete in 2014.

The expansion of Terminal III and construction of Terminal IV are now being prepared to enable the airport to accommodate 62 million passengers a year, an expected increase from the current capacity of 22 million passengers.

Last year the total number of passengers reached 44.2 million.

Angkasa Pura II is also planning to re-design all facilities, improve its service regulations, information technology systems and human resources, and has allocated Rp 90 billion (US$10,500) from its budget for the purpose.
