The Jakarta City Administration will ask for an additional budget of Rp 3.25 trillion (US$380.25 million) in the 2011 local budget bill that will be submitted to Jakarta’s provincial legislative councils on Thursday.

Jakarta administration secretary Fadjar Panjaitan said the extra funds would boost the budget from Rp 28.51 trillion to Rp 31.76 trillion and be used to improve public services such as enhancing public facilities, public transportation and overcoming floods.

“People should be made familiar with every local budget plan before it is sent to the legislative council,” Fadjar said on Wednesday as quoted by Kompas.com.

Jakarta Regional Financial Management Agency (BPKD) head Sukri Bey said that people should pay attention on whether the realization of local budget in the first semester of 2011 had already met the target or not. (rpt)
