Yahoo!’s local-based social networking site, Yahoo! Koprol, introduced Thursday its new look and features for both web and mobile, marking its first anniversary.

Satya Witoelar, Yahoo! Koprol’s co-founder, introduced new features, including “Onboarding” for easy check-ins, “People Finder” to connect with people in the vicinity and the “Hovercard” which enables users to find the profile information of another user’s “avatar” without having to visit individual profile pages.

It also has a Koprol widget to enable the creating and adding of widgets to profiles or blogs.

“Our new ‘Hot-Tags’ also consolidates content on popular topics or events to reflect the collective mood, while ‘Koprol Stamp’ feature serves as a fun element that rewards user for being social with Koprol users,” Satya said in a press conference.

Satya also said that users can now access Koprol on Android devices.

“Koprol’s fresh interface appears the same both on web and mobile, so it has a consistent look across platforms,” he said.

According to Satya, since Koprol was acquired by global Internet giant Yahoo! in May last year, the number of Koprol’s users has increased 20 times to 1.5 million users globally, with Indonesia contributing 80 to 90 percent.

“Yahoo! Philippines is now preparing Yahoo! Koprol’s launch there,” Satya added. (swd)
