Dems upset by Marzuki’s SMS to SBY

Speaker of the House of Representatives Marzuki Alie has triggered the ire of some of his fellow Democratic Party politicians for sending a text message to chief party patron President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono regarding an internal conflict.
Marzuki said in the SMS that was leaked to the media that he was concerned by ineffective party management following heated arguments between party executives Ruhut Sitompul, Amir Syamsuddin and Denny Kailimalang on a recent TV show.
“Before pointing his finger at someone else, why didn’t he point at his own face first,” Ruhut said on Sunday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Ruhut also said he didn’t care what Marzuki said about him in the SMS.
Separately, Democratic Party deputy secretary-general Ramadhan Pohan said Marzuki’s method of expressing his opinion through SMS “created controversy”.
Ramadhan also said that Marzuki should have first discussed the issue with party chairman Anas Urbaningrum instead of communicating it directly with Yudhoyono.
Marzuki said in the SMS that he was sending it in his capacity as the deputy chief patron of the party.
“This is a leadership issue ... Every day we degrade ourselves, provoked by the media. We’re heading to destruction. I hereby ask the chief patron to please take firm action to save the party. We’re ready to take orders and support you.” the House speaker said in the text message to the President.
