Jasa Raharja pays up to Rp 4 t in transportation accident premiums
 
State insurance firm PT Jasa Raharja says it pays between Rp 3 trillion (US$354 million) and Rp 4 trillion per year in premiums for injured victims and the families of victims killed in transportation-related accidents.
 
The figure covers premiums for accidents involving travel on land, sea and on airplanes, Jasa Raharja Central Sulawesi office branch head Poltje L. Kandou said on Sunday in Palu.
 
He said the firm paid a Rp 25 million premium for the families of each deceased traffic victim. A maximum of Rp 10 million for medical treatment was provided to each victim suffering from permanent disability due to traffic accidents.
 
The figures are Rp 50 million and Rp 25 million, respectively, for victims of sea and air transport accidents.
 
Potlje added that Jasa Raharja did not cover premiums for those who died or were injured as a result of their own mistakes, such as a motorcyclist who may have accidentally hit a tree or fell off his vehicle, Antara reported.
