Senior PKS member to report deputy for libel, defamation

Senior Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) politician Yusuf Supendi will file charges against the party’s deputy secretary-general, Mahfudz Siddiq, at Jakarta Police on Wednesday, on allegations of defamation.

“My attorney and I plan to file a report on defamation and slander, in the afternoon,” Yusuf said Wednesday, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.

The alleged defamation took place when Mahfudz told the media that Yusuf was a garbage collector whose job was to collect trash to defile the party.

In his report today, Yusuf will supply evidence in the form of a printout of the comment made by Mahfudz that was published by an online media company.

Yusuf added that he had received threats through libelous text messages (SMS) regarding his plan to report the case to the police.

“I will not pay attention to small-time libel,” he said.
