Former General Elections Commission (KPU) commissioner and current Democratic Party communication division chief Andi Nurpati is scheduled to be questioned by police on today, as witness in relation to an alleged court letter forgery, for which Masyhuri Hasan has been named a suspect.

“We are going to question [Andi] as witness in this case. Later we are going to test her testimony with all the supporting evidence we have,” National Police detective deputy chief Insp. Gen. Matheus Salempang said Friday as quoted by kompas.com.

Denny Kailimang, the head of the Democratic Party’s legal division, said a team of lawyers would be deployed to assist Andi Nurpati during what will be her first appearance in police office.

Andi is suspected to have hidden an original Constitutional Court letter, dated August 17, 2009, regarding the outcome of an election involving several parties in South Sulawesi during the 2009 general election. The letter indicated that a legislator candidate from the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) had won the most votes.

Andi, however, is said to have presented an allegedly falsified letter, dated August 14, 2009, which tended to favor a legislator candidate from the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura), Dewi Yasin Limpo.
