The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) suspended and demoted 24 prosecutors and 94 others were punished for abusing their authority, lack of discipline, or other violations.
“They have demonstrated a lack of discipline and have abused their power, among other violations,” Deputy Attorney General Darmono said Monday, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com while speaking during a hearing with the House of Representatives Legal and Human Rights Commission.
Darmono explained that of the total 118 prosecutors who were punished, 19 were found guilty of insubordination, 129 had abused their authority and 11 were guilty of “disgraceful” deeds.
From those cases, 13 prosecutors were demoted and 11 were suspended.
Darmono said he would improve internal supervision within the AGO by sudden inspections of regional attorney offices to monitor the performance of his subordinates.
Darmono said that he had inspected 31 attorney offices in various regions from January to July 2011.
