Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) chief Busyro Muqoddas says the government has not influenced KPK’s investigation of the Bank Century bailout.
Busyro made his statement while addressing critics, who alleged that the KPK’s investigation of the Rp-6.7 trillion Bank Century bailout might have been influenced by the government.
“I guarantee, before this forum, that the KPK’s integrity can’t be bought by anyone, including the government. Anything that comes from KPK in relation to the case is surely based on integrity,” Busyro told legislators at a hearing of the House’s Bank Century monitoring working committee on Wednesday.
Akbar Faisal, a lawmaker from the People’s Conscious Party (Hanura), previously said he was disappointed that there was no difference between the government’s and the KPK’s assessment of the bailout.
The KPK said there were no indications of graft in the bailout, something which has been questioned by the House of Representatives.
