Former legislator Muhammad Misbakhun, who was sent to jail over a bogus letter of credit, said that he is often confronted by sudden raids during his time at the Salemba prison.
“In late May, the prison officers suddenly rousted me while I was watching a tennis match between Federer and Djokovic,” Misbakhun told The Jakarta Post on Friday at the Bara Energy Prima office, where he works as part of his assimilation process in Jl.Senopati, South Jakarta.
“The officers told me that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had ordered Political and Law Affairs Minister Djoko Suyanto, who forwarded the order to Law and Human Rights Minister Patrialis Akbar, to conduct the sudden raid because SBY believed I was responsible for defamation and attacks against him in social media, such as Twitter and Facebook,” he added.
Misbakhun said that the wardens had confiscated his cell phone.
“I only used a CDMA cell phone. I told the officers that they were free to check whether or not I could use Facebook or Twitter from that kind of cell phone,” Misbakhun said.
“The truth is that I am tired of being accused of nothing,” he added.
Yudhoyono had previously addressed the public and said that there had been a number of cases of slander perpetrated against him through online social media.
