Letter: SBY’s call for tough punishment

A- A A+

“Severe punishment should be imposed on all law enforcement officials involved,” President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was quoted as saying by www.thejakartapost.com on July 18.

Who is it that the President can call upon to administer these punishments, the police?

The President has lost it completely and is powerless. Indonesians should feel relieved if we get through SBY’s presidency without a military take-over. SBY has turned out to be very disappointing; he is a weak, gutless and self-serving president. The fact that we are stuck with a rogue police force, whose only agenda is a criminal one, is the fault of our leadership.

When will we learn that the controlling elite of our country care only about power and money, nothing else. In their relentless appetite for these, they have sold out our country, our whole system of law, order and justice, to those who help further their aims and hide their activities.
