Police suspect that the slaying of three members of a family, whose remains were found on Friday in a house in Banjaran, West Java’s Bandung regency, was a case of premeditated murder.
West Java chief police detective, Sr. Comr. Fachrudin, said on Friday evening that it is likely there was more than one murderer.
“We’re still probing the motive: whether it was violence-ridden theft or revenge,” he said, as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Fachrudin said the three victims - Apo, 66; Lilis, 64; and their grandchild Tresya, 4 - had been killed by cuts to their throats.
“We’ve found a machete, which is probably related to the victims’ deaths, but we still have to investigate further.”
The police estimate that the murders had taken place three days prior to Friday. Apo was found dead in the living room, while his wife Lilis and grandchild Tresya were found in a bedroom, and may have been killed while they were sleeping.
Bandung Police chief, Adj. Sr. Comr. Sony Sonjaya, said the murderers might have pretended to be guests to enter the house because there were no signs of forced entry on the doors or windows.
