A magnitude-5.3 earthquake struck North Sumatra on Monday morning, posing no threat of tsunami, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) says.
The earthquake occurred at about 7 a.m., 79 kilometers northeast of North Sumatra’s Tanahmasa Island, at a depth of 35 kilometers below sea level, the agency says, as reported by tempointeraktif.com.
No damage nor injuries were reported.
