Prita files for case review in libel case
Prita Mulyasari, who was earlier convicted for libel in a landmark libel case involving Omni International Hospital, plans to file for a case review at Tangerang Prosecutor’s office.
“My lawyer OC Kaligis and I will file for a case review today at around 1 p.m.,” Prita said Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Prita’s case first emerged in 2008 after she sent an email to friends and relatives, telling them of the poor treatment she received at the hospital in Tangerang. The emails circulated on social networking sites, and gained public support, but the hospital then charged her with libel.
Prita won her case at the Supreme Court in 2009. However, in early July, the Supreme Court granted prosecutors’ appeal request, finding Prita guilty and sentencing her to six months in prison with a year of probation.
