RI migrant workers to get lessons in finance, banking
The Manpower and Transmigration Ministry and Indonesian central bank, Bank Indonesia, signed an agreement on Monday to provide financial management and banking lessons to Indonesian migrant workers.
Manpower and Transmigration Minister Muhaimin Iskandar said migrant workers needed to learn how to manage their finances and banking so that they could use these services better.
“At present, migrant workers are not managing their finance optimally. We hope these lessons will help to improve their awareness of risks in using financial products, and encourage them to become entrepreneurs,” Muhaimin said as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
The training is are expected to be provided over the next three years. The ministry and Bank Indonesia also agreed to review and evaluate the program every six months.
