Ten domestic airlines have prepared 332 aircraft in anticipation of the millions of people expected to return to their hometowns for the Idul Fitri holiday at the end of August, the Transportation Ministry says.

Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang Supriyadi Ervan said the aircraft would serve flights to and from 24 airports that traditionally have seen increasing passenger numbers around the annual holiday.

Bambang said the number of airplane passengers over the upcoming holiday period was predicted to increase by 15 percent from last year.

“We estimate that the number of airline passengers traveling for the Idul Fitri holiday this year will increase to 2.4 million people, up from 2.1 million last year,” Bambang said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
