The Independent People's Union (SRI) Party denied that they received foreign financial support for their push to be eligible for the 2014 general elections.

The party plans to support the candidacy of World Bank Managing Director and former finance minister Sri Mulyani.

"There are no foreign donors," union chairman D. Taufan said on Wednesday after submitting necessary documents to the Justice and Human Rights Ministry to participate in the 2014 elections.

He added that the party members contributed the funds needed for various operational activities.

"Our wallet is still empty," he added. "We are still focusing on forming the board in subdistricts and municipalities."

The party currently has 390 members, he added.

"Members can give any amount they want," he said, adding that members have donated between Rp 1,000 to Rp. 10 million (US$1,180) for daily operational.
