Students from leading universities will represent Indonesia at an academic simulation of United Nations (UN) proceedings, called the Global Model UN 2011 in Incheon, South Korea, that will be held from Wednesday to Saturday.
“In the Global Model UN forum, we will have UN meeting simulations. We will act as representatives of UN member state (Indonesia),” said Rizka Mantini, a representative from Padjadjaran University.
She added that the universities from Indonesia participating in the Global Model UN are: the University of Indonesia; Diponegoro University; Padjadjaran University; Bandung Institute of Technology; and Hasanuddin University.
Rizka said that in the international meeting, each of the universities is sending different numbers of students to attend the simulation meeting. “This year, Padjadjaran University is sending 13 students to take part in the forum.”
In the forum, each country’s delegation will present a certain topic.
By joining the forum, it is expected that the students will get to develop their diplomatic and negotiation skills, and also their skills in building relationships with other countries.
