House team to meet BPK and KPK regarding Century case

The House of Representative’s supervisory team on the Bank Century bailout will meet the chairman of the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in order to discuss the materials and content of the forensic audit carried out by the BPK in relation to the bailout in the century case, which amounted to Rp 6.7 trillion (US$783.9 million).

“We want to find out the results of the audit. We want to scrutinize where the funds flowed, since taking Rp 3 trillion away from Rp 6.7 trillion does not clarify where the money has gone,” said a supervisory team member, Bambang Soesatyo, on Friday as reported by kompas.com.

Previously, the House asked the BPK to audit Century Bank’s transactions and flow of funds.

Bambang also said that the supervisory team will meet representatives from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to ask whether the KPK found any developments relating to the controversial bailout.

“We expect that with the existence of the KPK ethics board, the commission will not say they do not have any evidence about the Century Bank bailout,” he said.
