First Lady Ani Yudhoyono received a medal of honor as part of Indonesia’s 66th anniversary celebrations.

Ani was awarded the Adipradana medal of honor at the State Palace on Friday. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono presented the award.

The First Lady should have refused such an honor, stating that it is her duty to serve the people and she does not want any medal or reward for this work. This would have enhanced her prestige and status.

When people are awarded medals, usually there’s a reason for it. A proper “news” outlet would tell you the reason. This is just lazy reporting.
