UI awards Saudi Arabia king honorary degree

The State University of Indonesia has awarded the King of Saudi Arabia, Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, an honorary doctoral degree in recognition of his contribution to the field of peace and humanity.
Abdullah received the award on Sunday, considered successful in promoting interfaith dialogue as part of a campaign to promote world peace and fight terrorism stereotypes of Islam, Antara reported Monday.
The King was presented with the degree at an award ceremony at Al-Safa Palace in Saudi Arabia that was attended by international ulemas, several Saudi Arabia’s ministers, top officials and governors.
UI rector Gumilar Rusliwa Somantri, the Indonesian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Gatot Abdullah Mansyur and Alwi Syihab, Indonesian president special emissary on Middle East affairs, the Indonesian consulate general in Jeddah Zakaria Anshar, also attended the award presentation ceremony.
