The National Police say they will follow up a request from alleged Constitutional Court document forgery case suspect Zainal Arifin Hoesein, to present the court’s chief as witness et d’charge.
“I have not received information from the investigators about that. However, if there is a request, police investigators will look in to it,” National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. I Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said on Wednesday.
Yoga said that a witness et d’charge could be proposed during an investigation, prosecution or trial process.
The police are carrying out an investigation of an alleged forgery of the Constitutional Court’s document ruling on the 2009 election dispute for a House of Representatives seat representing the South Sulawesi I electoral district.
After a questioning session on Tuesday, Zainal, who was a clerk at the court, said he proposed four people, including court chief Mahfud MD, to testify he was not supposed to be named suspect in the case.
Zainal said the police made a mistake naming him suspect, saying his signature on the court’s letter ruling on the dispute had been falsified.
The falsification led the General Elections Commission (KPU) to announce that a candidate from the People’s Conscience Party (Hanura) won the House seat, although it should have gone to the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) candidate. (rcf)
