Food producer PT Indofood CBP says it earns about Rp 600 billion (US$70.2 million) annually from its most popular product, Indomie instant noodles, at street food stalls across Jakarta alone.

Boiled and fried Indomie is commonly sold in makeshift stalls, which may also offer toast and bananas, tea, coffee and milk. Such stalls are easily found on Jakarta's streets.

The latest figure was revealed by Indofood CBP commissioner Fransiscus Welirang in Jakarta on Friday as he saw off more than 9,000 Indomie vendors heading to their hometowns for Idul Fitri. Indofood is sponsoring the “joint” home-bound traveling initiative.

Welirang said there were more than 5,900 Indomie stalls in Jakarta.

PT Indofood Sukses Makmur, the holding company of PT Indofood CBP, booked net revenues of Rp 21.8 trillion in the first half of the year, a 20 percent increase from the same period last year, kompas.com reported.
