Exodus death toll stands at 178

The Transportation Ministry says 178 people have died in the Idul Fitri exodus this year as of Sunday.

Almost 400 people were severely injured and 746 mildly injured in accidents throughout the nation, the ministry said as reported by kompas.com.

In one calamity, 12 people died and 93 were injured after a ferry foundered when traveling from Kolaka from Bajoe in Sulawesi.

An estimated three million people are currently on the move, traveling by land, sea and air to to celebrate Idul Fitri in their hometowns.
