83,724 people have joined free exodus programs: Transportation Ministry

The Transportation Ministry records that as of Saturday, 83,724 people have joined free-of-charge 2011 Idul Fitri exodus programs. As many as 1,726 buses were used to carry the home-bound holidaymakers. Besides, 1,609 motorcycles were reported to be transported to the home villages using trucks.

Among the number, 700 people and 300 motorcycles have been carried using ships in the exodus.

“The programs are from political parties, private companies such as food and herbal medicine companies, and some banks,” said Transportation Ministry spokesman Bambang S Ervan on Monday, as quoted by kompas.com
