Muhammad Nazaruddin, a corruption suspect in a case surrounding a 2011 SEA Games construction project worth at least Rp 191 billion (US$22.4 million), sent his regards to his family in his hometown of Simalungun, North Sumatra.
Nazaruddin is being detained at the Kelapa Dua Mobile Brigade Headquarters in Depok, West Java, for his suspected role in the case that allegedly involves high-ranking members of the Democratic Party in which he previously served as treasurer.
"He sent his regards to his family in the village through me," Aan Ihyauddin, Nazaruddin's relative, said on Tuesday to tempointeraktif.com.
Aan added that Nazaruddin's family had sent their regards to Nazaruddin as well.
"The big family is praying for him to be patient in facing this case," he said.
Nazaruddin, wanted by Interpol, was arrested in Cartagena, Colombia, and deported to Jakarta earlier this month. His wife, Neneng Sri Wahyuni, whose whereabouts remain unknown, is currently wanted by Interpol as well.
