Information and Communication Minister Tifatul Sembiring is expected to deliver a sermon at tomorrow’s Idul Fitri mass prayer at the National Police’s mobile brigade headquarters in Depok, an official said.
“We have informed him and, so far, we are sticking to the schedule,” Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiman said Monday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
When asked about whether terrorist suspects would be allowed to participate at the mass prayer, Budiman said that they would perform the prayer from inside their cells.
“We will install loudspeakers in the cells so they will be able to follow the whole prayer session,” he said.
Currently, high-profile terrorist suspect, Umar Patek, is under police custody at the mobile brigade's detention center.
The government decided that Idul Fitri would fall on Wednesday, while the second largest Muslim organization in the country, Muhammadiyah, had earlier announced that Idul Fitri would be on Tuesday.
