Surya Paloh, a Golkar politician and founder of the National Democrats (Nasdem), a new political party, said he has received a letter of reprimand from Golkar for his involvement in Nasdem, and he will choose between one of the two parties soon.
“I’m still considering, but I should make a decision in the very near future,” Paloh said on Thursday as quoted by tempointeraktif.com.
Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie has ordered that all party members resign from Nasdem because it was now a political party. He set a deadline for politicians to declare their positions for the middle of August.
Former Golkar chairman Jusuf Kalla said that Paloh told him he still claimed himself a Golkar member and had no intentions of leaving Golkar.
However, Kalla supported the policy that no Golkar members should be simultaneously active in other political parties.
