Nearly 80,000 people leave Bakauheni Port post Lebaran holidays

At least 79,629 people bound for Merak Port in Banten, West Java departed on 95 ferries from Bakauheni Port in Lampung, South Sumatra, between Friday and Saturday as the Idul Fitri holidays come to a close this weekend, Bakauheni Port Indonesia Ferry (ASDP) officials recorded.

ASDP operational manager Heru Purwanto said that during the period as many as 7,638 motorcycles and 8,234 cars crossed the port, as reported by kompas.com on Saturday.

Heru added that peak travel back to Merak Port would occur between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

In order to prevent the buildup of passengers, ASDP has organized 103 ferries capable of carrying around 90,000 people.
