The Idul Fitri exodus is over; now it's time for the influx.

From Yogyakarta, many people could not get train tickets to return to Jakarta as all the tickets for economy, business and executive classes are sold out until Sept. 7.

"No tickets [are available for travel] until Sept. 7. I didn't know that we had to reserve the ticket a week before the departure date," said Tri Atmoko, as quoted by kompas.com, at Lempuyangan station in Yogyakarta on Saturday.

Tri said he thought he had arrived early at the station to buy an economy ticket, only to find that he was a week late.

He said he would possibly take a bus instead. "The most important thing for me is to find a way to return to Jakarta and get back to work."

Tri Atmoko is not alone.

State-owned railway operator PT KAI's Yogyakarta operational area IV spokesman Eko Budianto said many would-be passengers failed to reserve return tickets a week prior to their departure dates.
