Fire destroys part of Semarang General Hospital

A fire gutted several rooms on two floors of Semarang General Hospital in Semarang, Central Java, on Sunday afternoon, creating a stir among patients, staff and visitors.

A rescue team reported that no deaths were caused in the incident.

Hospital security guard Danang said he and several of his friends had attempted to extinguish the blaze with the hospital's fire extinguishers, but were unsuccessful.

The Semarang Fire Brigade deployed nine firetrucks, and were able to extinguish the blaze around three hours after arriving, tribunnews.com reported.
