Commission proposes tribunes for children at soccer stadiums
The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) has asked the Indonesian Soccer Association (PSSI) to provide special tribunes for children inside stadiums.
During a meeting on Wednesday, KPAI deputy chairman Asrorun Niam said soccer is an educational game that can teach children sportsmanship, but added that the lack of special tribunes exposes them to negative excesses from violent supporters.
“It is time for Indonesia to create a child-friendly soccer match climate so they can enjoy matches live and learn about sportsmanship in an entertaining atmosphere,” Asrorun said.
“There is a lack of alternative entertainment that can educate children and teach them sportsmanship. Most TV shows are dominated by violence and other activities that are destructive to children’s development,” he added as quoted by Antara state news agency.
