Paloh’s resignation will not cause friction in Golkar: Sultan

Former Golkar Party heavyweight Sultan Hamengkubuwono X said on Thursday that the resignation of senior politician Surya Paloh from the party was within his rights as a party cadre.

“It is his right whether he wants to resign or not,” Sultan said, as quoted by kompas.com.

Sultan added that he was sure that Paloh’s resignation would not cause any friction in the Golkar Party.

Yesterday, Paloh announced his resignation from the Golkar Party.

“I’ve been at the anti-climax stage with Golkar. Golkar doesn’t need me anymore. On the other hand, I also don’t need Golkar anymore,” he said.

He last served as a member of Golkar’s patron board before resigning.
